A little bit about me:

My name is Mark Carthy and I am an amateur photographer living in Sligo in the northwest of Ireland.  I became interested in photography back in 2006 on a safari trip to South Africa, and bought my first DSLR camera shortly after returning home.  Since then it has turned into a passion, and although I am still on a steep learning curve, I enjoy sharing how I see my native country through my photographs.

I am lucky enough to live in one of the most photogenic countries in the world, and so I mainly shoot landscapes (when the Irish weather allows), although I am keen to photograph any subject and learn along the way.  For me, being out in the wilderness taking photographs is an escape from the routines of everyday life, and sharing those photographs with who ever is interested is an added bonus.

The purpose of this website is to promote my work and showcase the spectacular scenery of Ireland, and hopefully to learn along the way.  I hope to add a shop in future to sell my prints, but until then feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions for the site.

Thanks for visiting,

Mark.
